I think that I would agree with the roach. Looking at the moth, who wants to die early? There will be so much you haven’t seen in life; Places you could have visited, sites you could have seen, people you could have met, and the lessons you could have learned.
To die young is one thing, but to die young over foolishness doesn’t make any sense to me. That’s why I agree with living life safe but take reasonible! risk to make it all the more sweeter.

i think that the way the poem went, that you would need a combination of both the
cocoroach and the moth because the cocoroach wanted to live life boring and not do
anything to live longer while the moth wanted to actually live life on the edge
and die quickly. i think that people dont want to live life boring and long but not
short and wild either so you need alittle bit of both i think. some excitement is never bad and some dullness isnt bad either.

I think there should be an easy medium of what roach and moth said. you should go for your dreams and take risks but not the kind of risks that will kill you. If it will kill you, you can honestly live with out it. Smiles, bye

I Think You Should Live Both Lifestyles.Such As The Moths Life It Was Short And Exciting But It Was SHORT!!.The Roaches Lifestyle Was Cautious And Longer But It Was Boring. So You Should Live A Little Bit Of Both Lifestyles.Exciting But Not Too Dangerous And Think The Whole Activity Out Before Doing It.

I agree with both I’m on both sides with this, i agree on how cautious the roach was
and that when you have fun it’s OK but accidents happen, someone always told me
even out with friends you have to always be aware of your surroundings because today
the world is full of surprises so i can see why the roach would probaly like to live
on to see how the world changes around him.with the moth i can see his point of view
too that having fun is great an it’s a great rush and kind of excitment in life that
you don’t get doing your everyday routine going to work then coming home.

I think that you should live like the moth.if you want something go get it no matter
wat it is.you should go for want you want because life is short and u should live it
to its fullest.everyone will die so make sure u die in a way that every one will
    remember you in.

I think that we should all live the lifestyle of the moth. I mean I already do anyway lol. Why take the cautious slow road of life when you can have a fast paced adreniline filled one. Why not go bungee jump off the highest building instead of cruising down the highway at ten miles UNDER the speed limit. And it’s easy to compare these for me because the Moth is like me and the Cockroach portrays my father so this poem was real easy to relate to

I would have to say I agree with both. I like to live life to the fullest but I would never really sit around and be safe. Although I want to live a long life. The moths idea of living life to the fullest was a little disturbing having to commite sucide, I would never live my life to where I ended up commiting sucide. So I would live life to the fullest but in a way where I live a long suspensful life.

Personally, I think that the moth is in the right. What is life if you are miserable? I’m not saying that everyone’s going to go and jump out of a plane, but beauty and the light were the moth’s passion. If you ask someone else, they might say their passion is singing or writing. Whatever makes you feel like you should be on this Earth is what you should do. To be like the roach is to watch the world pass you by behind a curtain. You can do these things safely, but if it takes away from what you want to do then you need to consider your priorities. Otherwise, you should find your passion because if you don’t have one, you don’t know what you’re missing.

Also, referring to the last few lines of the poem, it says “Still I wish/ i had wanted something/ As bad as that moth had wanted to burn himself” The roach is actually regretting his life’s choice, and who wouldn’t? You see people in love with life because they have soemthing to love. Without purpose, our existence here on this earth is basically just eveloution’s plan for us; to dry up the Earth until we have to evolve to something else.
While we’re waiting, why shouldn’t we do what is most important to us?

Dawn - excellent job relating the characters of the moth and cockroach to your life. I think most children see their parents the same way you see your dad. It will be interesting to see if one day, your children see you as portraying the cockroach.

RoseH6 - Bravo! I think you have zeroed in on an important point when you note that the moth was willing to go to amazing lengths in order to feed its passion. Bravo!

I think that I agree most with the moth. I think that everyone should live their life with excitment, and not hold anything back. You only have one life to live, so live it to the fullest. The roach’s life was very cautious and protective, and that way, he never got to life his life.

  12. MckenzieM1:

I think that the moth has a better idea to live to his life to the greatest exstent. the reason why i think this is because if you go through life and are always to cautious about what you are doing youll never be happy. Its like chickens in a cage. They will live a long time in that cage because there life has now a limit to what it can do, it cant go past that limit. though if there out of the cage they are free to rome around and do what they want they now dont have the safty of the cage but now they have the freedom to do as they wish. They can now eat what they want and be what they want. They have a chance to live life they want to live it and have a chance to be happy. While your happy you may live long or short, but ether way now you know what could have been and now your happy.

  13. andrewM3:

To me the moth has the right idea but dosent seem to have his head on straight. The roach also has the right idea but has the wrong way of wording it. You shouldent fear death 24/7 but it should always be a little fear in the back of your mind.

  14. MinaR3:

I agree with bruceg3. I think you should live your life to the fullest, but also be cautious. You never want to give your life up for death, but it would be fun to live a little and party. You never really want to be stuck inside all the time and sit around and do nothing with your life. Sometimes it is o.k. to be laid back and relaxed. I think life should b e lived with excitement in it, but also you have to build your boundaries.

  15. elizabethk6:

I feel as though the moth has the better idea than the roach. The moth seen’s to have his head on it’s shoulder. Better than the roach!!!!

  16. MiNaR3:

In the poem “The Road Not Taken” I think that it would have an effect on his life no matter which path he took. It could be good, it may be bad, but either way one will change his life.
