Dear Abby,
I’m a freshman in my state university in one of the highest level biology classes. I come straight from public high school, and this is only my thrid time ever taking a biology class. I am one of 90 students in my professors class, but I feel my grade slipping. The material gets harder and harder every class, and I don’t want to fall behind. I’m not even sure my professor knows my name. He is always coming into class as the bell rings, and leaving right away at the end. I want to keep my grades up, but I know that I need extra help. Where can I find time to talk to my professor and what else can I do to help my grades?
Sincerely,
Stressed Without A Name

Dear Abby,
My friends and I went to a gathering and there were a bunch of people there and they were smoking pot, and drinking yagermeister. They were pressuring us to smoke and drink with them. I didn’t think it was the right thing to do, so I told them no, but my friends did. Now I don’t talk to my old friends because of that party, and the choices they made.
Sincerely, Magdelena.

Dear Abby,
Lately I’ve been finding that this one co-worker keeps leaving work and then leaves it to me to do the work. Then he is always giving the other workers a had time about how we slack on the job or how we are not “considered” to be the best work force. We had to send one guy to the hospital for a mental break down from all the torture the co-worker has given him.

The Dude that needs help.

Dear Abby,
My friends invited me to a party and they said they will have alcohol and pot there. They keep telling me that I should try some. But, I don’t think I want to because they are bad for your body. But, I’m afraid that if I tell them that they will not want to be my friend anymore. So, I am stuck in the middle and I don’t know what to do.
Sincerely,
Marie C p1

Dear Abby,
I already got in trouble for not having a good in college but my instructor Mr. Cobe said that he’ll give me another chnce to write an essay about why I have such a bad grade. So i completed it in and gave it to him he read it and said that I did not write it and that someone elso wrote. But I told him that iwrote it these are my owns words. But still he didn’t believe. So i set up a meeting with him and my mother for him to understand that htis is mine. My mom read it and said that it sounds just her. And i said that i write like this but i just don’t like writing like this in your class.

Dear Abby,
My colleage and I are having a hard time getting along in the workplace. We work at Acme and always seem to be arguing about where to place the new People© magazines. We also argue about other things, such as decided which aisle to put the Goldfish and other products. I have tried to handle our situation by calmly talking to him, but we end up in a shouting match each time. We always argue abotu little things and it’s becoming a huge fued. How are we supposed to handle this without biting each other’s heads off? He’s getting on my last nerve and there doesn’t seem to be a sincere solution. What should I do?
Sincerely,
Acme Arguing.

Dear Abby,
I am a freshman at the University of Delaware. We are having a problem with our teacher. He constantly calls us stupid
and ignorant students who don’t deserve his time. He always gives us long lectures about his life and why he hates
to teach kids like us. Many students try to send a complaint to the other teachers, the principal, and even the district
but he’s made such a good impression on them that nothing we do helps. What can I do to better this situation?
Sincerely,
Desperation

Dear Abby,
I need your advice. I got this english class and my grade is below standards. I think its the way my teacher grades our work because i understand the materials but my grade nevers becomes higher then a C. She allows us to rewrite essays and papers but my grade stays the same or goes up by only two or three points. Once or twice I try staying after school for extra but it was just a waste of time. Matter of fact I stay one day and she left the building. This really i huge issue. See I cant have anything lower then a B on my report card. This grade is also interferring with my extra cricular activities. At my school im on the girls basketball team and our grade cant be lower then a C average. I really love being on the team so i need your help to resolve this problem.
p.s do you have any hint to help me sovle my problem.

Dear Abby,
I am currently working for a local business company. The problem I have is that I am a secretary representative, and my boss is sexually harassing me constantly. It’s very rare for me to go past his office and not be stopped by a sexual comment or gesture. The issue I have is that if I tell anyone, Im afraid the news will go back to my boss and I will be fired from my job. In the mean time, whenver I need something done I ask a co-worker of mine, and one day I’m afraid she will ask me why I keep asking her to do my tasks. So I need your advice on how to solve this problem of mine please.
Sincerely,
Helpless Secretary

Dear Abby,
I am deperate of my needing of your advice. Last night, my friend had a huge party i could not miss. Also, I had a term paper that is worth 75% of my grade due the next day. I went to the party and had a few drinks. I was planning to do the paper after the party, but I passed out from too much to drink. I know it wasn’t the right thing to do, but I was really in the party mood. The next day I was in a rush to get to class and asked the teacher for a later due date. Then the teacher asked why, and I could not tell the truth, so I lied. I told her that I had a family emergency so I could not complete the term paper. Therfore, I feel horrible what I had done at the party and I lied to the teacher. How can I get rid of this guilt?

I’ve handled the bosses problems for business and personal reasons. I beginning to think that he’s only keeping me around to handle all the dirty work. If you have any advice, please help me.

Dear Abby, we have a problem in school. It’s invloving being distracted in English class. I’am failing because of it. I think that if the teacher were to get control of these kids and put them in their place, there wouldn’t be paper flying, and people arguing and screaming.
This is really getting on my last nerve and I think im suffering by having my grade being as low as it is. If those class clowns that
always disrupt the class were to be heavily disciplined, I think my grade and my attitude towards english would be a lot better and would
drastically imrpove. I have a great passion for Englsih, but it’s being demolished by these immature students. So is their anything
that I can do to improve my grade or change my attitude towards english?
I need a resolution as soon as possible. thank you!

Dear Abby,
I need your help with a problem I am having. My grades in my math classes are below the standerd in my college. I think my teacher doesnt like me. I think this because all of my grades are good, I also understand everything she is teaching me in the class. I have a D- right now and I need to get that up to B. Now I have to take extra math classes when I am done school. That is ruining my extra curiculm activites, I am a cheerleader and I am on the soccer team. I also am on the school newspaper staff. to stay in these activities i have to remain a B average. This is such a big issue! I feel like i am wasting my team doing extra classes the teacher made me take when i understand everything she is teaching me in the class. So can you help me figure out to do about my teacher?

Dear Abby,
I have an employee that is a very diligent worker, but is lazy at times, and is always late. The only way that I can have her do her work well, I have to push her to get her job done. I feel as though her work ethic does not meet my companies standards. I can’t have an employee that slacks off because I am afraid it will affect my company greatly. So Abby, what should I do with this employee?

Dear Abby,
I have a huge problem at my work. My boss keeps on getting mad at me, when he should be getting mad at my other colleague. My other employee is taking credit for the things I do, such as cleaning up or doing things for our boss. My boss told me that soon, she will be getting a raise and a higher ranking in the job. I have tried to tell him that I have been doing my job, but he still believes my other colleague, not me. It is not fair at all to me, especially because I am the one who is doing a great job, not her. What should I do so my boss believes me and that my colleague will stop taking credit?

————
Dear Marie C p1,
Peer pressure is a common conflict amongst people, mainly teenagers, these days. I understand that you still want to be friends with these people. But think about it- if they want you to do drugs and smoke pot, they are only helping to kill you quicker. Do you really want to be friends with people trying to kill you? Yes, it may take a while, but if you do it too much, just to stay friends with these people, you get addicted, and it doesn’t help anything.
If these people you claim are your “friends,” they wouldn’t be wanting you to do drugs and smoke pot in the first place. It’s just not what they do.
Hope I helped,
Abby.

Dear Confused Boss,
I can see how this may be affecting the way your business is run. Although with the right amount of motivation your worker may do her work correctly, you do not need a lazy and tardy worker. This is your business, and you don’t have time to constantly push your workers to do their work. I think that you should have a private meeting with your employee and tell her that she needs to work harder. If she doesn’t want to put forth the effort, my suggestion would be to let her go. It’s your business and it’s your call. You deserve the best of the best workers, and maybe it’s time to find one that meets your standards all the time.
Best Wishes,
Abby

Dear Abby,
On the weekend I went to a party with a few new friends of mine. At first the party was some-what calm and controlled but once the parents left and we had no parental supervision, the party became crazy and out of control. Some kids brought alcohol and even drugs. To my surprise, I was the only one who was not drunk or high. This was the first time I have been placed in a situation like this, around peers who were such bad influences. Somehow, I found an excuse this time about why I could not drink or do drugs, but what do I say next time? I do not want them to think that I’m not “cool” because I’m afraid that they won’t want to be my friend.
Sincerely,
Confused High School Girl
