Becoming a teenager, none the less becoming thirteen, means a lot of things for different people. Exploring boundaries and becoming a "teenager". The stereotyped teenagers that always has parties and gets in trouble. Fighting puberty and growing up. Learning what it means to be an adult, and to take on responsibilities. But, it was different for me. By thirteen, I already knew all of that. I had known all of that since I was about six and a half. When I was about to turn thirteen, my life changed for the worse. I was having serious family issues, and I was taking care of my two younger siblings because I already knew how to, and my grandmother, who was living with us at the time, was not doing a very good job. Every day, my father and grandmother, and all of the other adults I knew, didn't tell me to grow up, but quite the opposite...grow down. "Be a kid, have some fun." I wanted, and still want, to know exactly what it means to have fun. I never was a kid. I never had the time. I always took care of my younger brother and sister, making sure they had, and have, the life I never will. But, even though thirteen was not even two years ago for me, I do not want to change it. I know, unlike so many other teenagers, what the real world is like. I like my life the way it is, because it is mine, and I can't go back...

I think that there are many definitions of a teenager such as, responsibilites, puberty, hormones, mood swings and other stuff. I(see mr powell a capital I) say this because most teenagers go through this daily. thats what I think the defintion of a teenager is.
